Essential Technology for Your Membership Community

A significant part of running a successful membership community relies on the technology you decide to use. So grab a notepad and a pen, and let’s go through this together.

Stay Within Your Means

The first thing you need to account for, before making any decision on what to spend your time and money on is a budget. There are many paid-for sites and apps that will provide you with what you need for different areas of your community, but if your budget is on the smaller side, there are also many free or freemium services you can use.

It’s all about doing some research and finding the best fit for you.

What Tech Tools Will You Need?

Technology. Tools. Tech. Membership guide.

A billing site

If the membership platform of your choice doesn’t integrate this, you will need to find a third-party site you can use.

We have researched Chargify, which you can read about here, and Billsby, which you can find here.

But if you fancy doing your own research, here are some alternatives:

An app or site that allows you to schedule posts

We recommend using Later, which is seemingly the best for Instagram scheduling, the only drawback being there’s a maxim of 30 posts scheduled at a time.

Though there are many other sites you can choose from such as:

Audience analytics software

At Ugenie we use Hubspot, which can also be used for content schedule!

But you can also try your hand at:

A brainstorming tool

You can use the brainstorming tool to plot all your ideas before they’re ready to be officiated.

We use Miro at Ugenie, which is perfect for multiple collaborators. And have conducted research on Ideaflip, which you can read here.

A tool to help you with your graphics

We suggest using Canva, which we are fond of at Ugenie, using it to design our blog headers, Instagram grid photos and any other graphics we may need.

You can access stock photos within the software but are also able to upload your own images to edit and save if that’s more your speed. Though if you’re more inclined to use your own images, you may benefit more from a basic photo editing tool or photoshop.

Host Site

Last but by no means least, you will need to figure out where you’re going to host your membership community. And luckily for you, we have taken matters into our own hands at Ugenie and put together a little something to help you make an informed decision.

And while you’re here, if you’re interested in using Ugenie as your platform of choice, book a 45 day free trial! We look forward to hearing from you!
